Mark asked me to post this. It's a cool idea.

Necro 2009 Over! Meeting November 8th!

With Necronomicon done for another year, expect a report on the Good, the Bad and the Ugly of it. But of special interest, will be plans to do a Digital Photo Swap of Pictures from Necronomicon. Everyone that took pictures should bring them on flash drive, their camera, or Disk. We'll dump them all to Hard Drive and then make data DVDs of ALL the pictures for everyone that contributed. For questions, contact Mark Jones.

Peace,
Ann

A MESSAGE FROM THE PROM COMMITTEE CHAIRWOMAN

Psycho Sock Hop

Anyone who is interested in a cheap but time consuming costume for the Psycho Sock Hop (NecronomiProm) here is the link to the crinoline pattern I used. http://www.pettipond.com/lon.htm It is a reprint of a 1956 TV Guide article about a Lawrence Welk Dancer.

If you just want to make a felt poodle skirt you don't HAVE to have a crinoline/petti, it still looks good and it is easy peezy.

Poodle Skirt
You will need the 72 in wide felt. I found Hancocks in Tampa to have the best selection of colors.
First you solve for your radius.
lol
Take your waist measurement, divide by Pi (3.14) and then half that. Mine was 38 in/3.14 = 12'ish then half of that is 6 inches
My radius is 6
Now figure out how long you want your skirt. I wanted my about 33 inches long.
Add your radius to your length (I got 39")
If your total is less than 36" you can make a perfect circle with the 72" wide felt.
Fold your felt in fourths. I used a stick with the measurement marked then just swept it around like a compass to mark my quarter circle.
Cut it (both the waist and hem)
You end up with a donut.
You can run some elastic around the waist or just pin it and cover it with a wide belt. (it IS just a costume)

If your measurement is more that 36" you need to unfold your fabric and cut two half circles and sew the seams to end up with a donut. (this takes way more felt)

Decorate your skirt as needed.
I'm hoping someone goes for a cthulhu skirt.

See ya at the Hop.
Mel, prom committee

~~~~ Whip it, beat it, pinch it, squeeze it and bite it. I love cooking.
Stone Hill Meeting, Convention T-shirts and other Necronomicon Stuff
Hello,
This Sunday's meeting Stone Hill meeting, at the Lovers Lane Gang house in Plant City, will be a blood drive meeting. Take your vitamins and eat those chocolate covered raisins so your iron will be good.
Those of you who would like to have this year's convention t-shirt should bring checks or cash to the meeting where I will take your orders for shirts. Short sleeved shirts are $10 and long sleeved shirts are $12 for Stone Hill members.
We will order a few shirts over what we have pre-orders for but not very many and not in many sizes. If you need anything other than a large or extra large short sleeved shirt, you should definitely pre-order your shirt. You can also pay by PayPal and I will guide you in doing this if you need to do it at the meeting.
If you are reading this and you are not a Stone Hill member, but you want a convention t-shirt, please go to http://stonehill.org/necro.htm and follow the t-shirt link there to order your t-shirt.
If you are a department head who needs people to sign up for your department, bring your sign up sheet or be ready to help people volunteer online.
I still need a couple of panel hosts. If you need an hour or two to fill out your 10 hours of work for the con, hosting panels does count toward that 10 hours.
That's about it for now.
See you Sunday!
Peace,
Ann
There is no way to peace.
Vidcon Hotel Reservations, Memberships and Dinners
If you are coming to Vidcon and have not made a hotel reservation, time is running out. The deadline for reduced rate rooms is June 24. We need everyone who can possibly afford to stay in the hotel to do so. We are in danger of not making our room count and having to pay a lot of money to the hotel because of that. When we signed the hotel contract, the economy had not gone down the drain and we could expect more people to attend and stay in the hotel. Now, we could be in big trouble.
Actually, the same is true for NECRONOMICON. We need people to stay in the hotel there too, so if you can afford to stay in the Hilton, why not make your hotel reservation for NECRONOMICON at the same time by calling 727-825-7010.
Vidcon membership is $40 till July 1 and then it goes to $50, so save $10 and pay now.
If you want to attend the Vidcon dinners, they are $15 each and must be paid for by the morning of July 14.
To pay for membership or dinners, send check or money order to Vidcon at P.O. Box 2213, Plant City, FL 33565. Pay by PayPal to annmorris1 at yahoo.com (trying to discourage the spambots) and post a note in the instructions to seller box PayPal provides telling me what you are paying for and you first and last name.
Take care and have fun.
Peace,
Ann
It might be in the barn due to storms. Get them cheap here!
Also still have SW glasses, Civil War books, other stuff.
The sale is open to anyone!
Well, well, I feel foolish now. When I looked up Jack Chalker yesterday morning to see if we could get a direct e-mail address, I ended up on his website which is there proclaiming that he is alive and well and will accept e-mail from fans. That's not the case though. After a couple of people questioned his life or death status, I Googled him and found that he did indeed pass Feb. 5, 2005. Needless to say, we will move on past his name in our potential guest list and ask the next highest vote getter if we need to. I'm hoping our first choices will be able to attend though.
Peace,
Ann
Hi,
We voted to invite Gregory Benford and Peter DeLouise for NECRONONICON 2010. If they cannot attend, the next two on the list to be invited to be guests of honor are Jack Chalker and John Coulter.
The first choice for Florida author guest of honor is James Patterson. We may have to revisit this one if he cannot attend. There was only one other nomination and the vote for Patterson was close to, if not, unanimous.
We voted to base our costuming theme for this year's convention on Arkham Asylum (Batman). This may seem a bit narrow but if you extend it a bit to encompass superheroes and others who might inhabit or visit Gotham City, it will work.
Peace,
Ann
We need good contact information for the guest nominated, not for an agent or manager.
We will also be selecting a costuming theme for the convention. Remember, this does not have to be the same theme as the webpage them. Last year, it just happened. Okay, we didn't have enough food because 81 people, plus 5-6 under six year old kids, came and we had only 55 RSVPs - oh, and we kind of broke the bleechers as we were trying to take a group picture - but hey, it was great!
The food was excellent, the cake was exceptional and being surrounded by dinosaurs on a beautiful day made it surreal.
Besides having a huge group to celebrate with, we also had nine of the ten original founding members attending! That kind of says it all.
To the other 20+ members who couldn't make it - just wait until the 35 anniversary party!
